FERGIE : 40 Years Since Sir Alex Joined United

On November 6, 1986, an earthquake in the shape of Alex Ferguson hit English football.

That's the date the Scot joined Manchester United as manager.

And to celebrate the anniversary, the Manchester Evening News has produced a stunning special edition, celebrating Fergie's time at the club.

By the time Ferguson retired 27 years later, there were 13 Premier League titles in the Old Trafford trophy cabinet, to go with five FA Cups, four League Cups and Champions League triumphs over Bayern Munich and Chelsea.

Throw in 10 Charity Shields, a European Cup Winners’ Cup, European Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Intercontinental Cup, plus way too many individual awards to even begin to mention and it creates a one-man, one-club record no-one is going to be matching any time soon.

And our special edition charts the story of that remarkable success.
