Product information

Our popular nostalgia series has returned, and this time we are taking you back to the 1990s!

It was a decade of which saw one of the world’s biggest stories – the death of Diana. The country mourned the loss of the People’s Princess following the tragic car crash in Paris.

Technological advances began to change our lives, with the World Wide Web becoming more and more commonplace. While our shopping habits were altered too with the arrival of two German supermarkets - Aldi and Lidl.

And European travel became easier with the opening of the Channel Tunnel.

Overseas, the world watched as Nelson Mandela finally made his long walk to freedom in South Africa, while the break-up of the Soviet Union was confirmed with 15 countries - including Ukraine - claiming independence.

The 90s was a decade for music, with the Spice Girls taking the country by storm, clocking up nine number one singles in the decade. While Oasis, Pulp, Blur and Suede led the Cool Britannia revolution.

Away from the major national and world news and sport, you will also find a collection of great pictures from our local archives that are sure to jog a few memories.

We hope you enjoy it.
